On this day personally came before the undersigned, a Notary Public within and for the County of Baxter and State of Arkansas, Lieut. A.G. Cravens a citizen of Cotter, Baxter County, Arkansas, whom I certify to be a credible person and worthy of confidence, who, being duly sworn, states he was personally well acquainted with applicant's husband David B. Bawcom and knew him for 39 years.
That he was a Confederate soldier belonging to Company C, Regiment Jas. R. Shaler of 27 Arkansas.
That as such soldier he served from 1862 to Close of War; that he was honorably discharged from such service and did not desert the same.
That my knowledge of these facts come from personal service in the Confederate Army with the said David B. Bawcom.

Estes a citizen of Harrison, Boone County, Arkansas, whom I certify to be a credible person and worthy of confidence, who, being duly sworn, states he was personally well acquainted with applicant's husband David B. Bawcom and knew him for _________ years. My boyhood days until his death.
That he was a Confederate soldier belonging to Company C, Regiment Jas. R. Shaler of 27 Arkansas.
That as such soldier he served from 1862 to Close of the War; that he was honorably discharged from such service and did not desert the same.
That my knowledge of these facts come from personal service in the Confederate Army with the said David B. Bawcom.

The records show that one David Bawcumb, (also borne as David Balcum, and D. Balcomb) Co. A, 27th. Ark. Inf., C.S.A., (Shaler's Regt., Ark. Inf.,) enlisted July 1, _, (probably 1862,) in Bard Co., (Also shown Nov. 1, _, in Carroll Co.)
Muster roll Jan. & Feb. 1864, (latest on file,) shows him present, a Private. Remarks: Detailed as wagon master from enlistment by order Col. Shaler.
Prisoner of War records show that he was surrendered May 26, 1865, and paroled at Shreveport, June 8, 1865, a Private. Residence: Yellville, Ark.
Not found as David Britton Bawcom, nor as of Co. C.
